Original title: "Forklædt som man: Da far blev mor" (Disguised as a man: When dad became a mother) by Michelle Klæstrup.
As a young man, he was a soldier. As a little older, he became a football player. He was fit and masculine. Yes, he even appeared in the newspaper because he saved a girl from drowning. The ladies loved him. They all thought he was a real man.
There was just one problem. He thought he was a woman.
This is Michelle Klæstrup's story - about the time she was disguised as a man. And when she became a woman. It's the story of how doctors called her a pervert, how her son ran away from home when she started having breasts and how her wife sent her to a sex club to find out what she was really into. It is the honest and uninhibited story of being transgender in Denmark, told more sadly, excitingly, funny, and beautifully than ever before. From boyhood's first innocent pair of girls' panties - to the irrevocably final farewell to manhood in an operating room in Thailand in 2013.
According to Everybodywiki, Michelle Klæstrup was born as a biological boy in 1964 in Vesterbro. During her childhood, however, she lived in more than 20 different places, including orphanages. Her parents split shortly after Michelle was born, but Michelle later had a younger brother and sister with two different fathers. At the age of 17, Michelle began to wonder about her gender identity for the first time. Here she realized that she got a pleasant feeling from seeing herself look like a woman, and that she had actually felt that way since she was about 6 years old. In addition, Michelle had no desire for sex with women. She wanted to have sex with a man - though not as a man himself, but as a woman.
Throughout most of her life, she suppressed these feelings until she eventually felt too sad and isolated from the outside world and had to embrace herself and come out. As a result, she lost almost her entire social circle, and she was even - like so many other transgender people - rejected from treatment at the only public place that could help her, namely the Sexological Clinic. But Michelle fought on and started hormone treatment and later began to have the courage to live as a woman.
