Original title: "Trans. Wyznania anarchistki, która zdradziła punk rocka" (Trans. Confessions of an anarchist who betrayed punk rock) is the Polish language edition of "Tranny: Confessions of Punk Rock's Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout" by Laura Jane Grace.
"Although Laura Jane Grace's birth certificate stated Thomas James, she felt from childhood that the name did not fit her. Being the son of a soldier, an anarchist, and the leader of the popular punk band Against me! was not enough. She wanted to be her. A daughter, a female anarchist, a female leader. In the world of punk rock, where time is marked by concerts, bottles of whiskey and drugs, anger, uncertainty and confusion become even more poignant. Grace, not allowing the true "I" to speak, throws herself into addictions, destroys the family, tries to suppress the desire for transition, and establishing her own identity becomes a serious source of tension in her everyday life."
"Everyday life, in which the phrase returns like a mantra: "Don't bother to fit into the box that someone else has invented for you. Trans is a chronicle of accepting one's sexuality and a bitter story about the price you have to pay to live in harmony with yourself."
According to Wikipedia, Laura Jane Grace (born Thomas James Gabel in 1980)is an American musician, the founder, singer, songwriter, and guitarist of the punk rock band Against Me!. Grace also fronts the band Laura Jane Grace & The Devouring Mothers, a solo project she started in 2016. Grace is known to have been one of the first highly visible punk rock musicians to come out as transgender.
Grace experienced feelings of gender dysphoria from a young age, citing them as her "earliest memories". She publicly came out as a transgender woman in May 2012 in an article to Rolling Stone and began publicly using the name Laura Jane Grace. "Laura" is the name her mother would have chosen had she been assigned female at birth, "Jane" was selected simply because she thinks it's pretty, and "Grace" is her mother's maiden name. Grace confirmed in January 2019 that she underwent facial feminization surgery in December 2018 as part of her transition.
