Original title: "Ten kara sen e toransujendā no "ima" o koete eiga" - 点から線へ トランスジェンダーの〝いま〟を越えて 映画 (From Dots to Lines, Transcending the “Now” of Transgender People) by the “Katasode no sakana” film producers (映画『片袖の魚』製作委員会)
A transgender woman who believes herself to be an imperfect existence and lives a social life without self-confidence tries to take a new step.
The short movie "Katasode no sakana" (One-sleeve fish) depicts such a small story.
What is important in order to create a society in which transgender people, who face various restrictions and worries about gender identity and gender identity in their daily lives, can live in their own way?
Thanks to the film, I would like to think about the challenges that transgender people face. In Chapter 1, we will read and understand the movie from a queer perspective.
In Chapter 2, we will learn what is “transgender” and consider the various barriers that transgender people face when they try to participate in society.
In Chapter 3, we return to the movie again, and express the charm of Yuu Ishizuka, the main character, through writing and newly shot photos.
The brilliance of the ripples that spread from the movie has been compiled as a book.
