Danica Roem is an American politician and journalist. Born on September 30, 1984, she is known for being the first openly transgender person to be elected and seated in a U.S. state legislature.

Danica Roem, a Democrat, was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in 2017, representing the 13th District. Before entering politics, Danica Roem worked as a journalist, covering local news and politics. Her historic election victory garnered national attention and was seen as a significant milestone for LGBTQ+ representation in American politics.
