A random collection of over 1910 books and audiobooks authored by or about my transgender, intersex sisters, and gender-nonconforming persons all over the world. I read some of them, and I was inspired by some of them. I met some of the authors and heroines, some of them are my best friends, and I had the pleasure and honor of interviewing some of them. If you know of any transgender biography that I have not covered yet, please let me know.

Thiffany Odara - Pedagogia da Desobediência

Original title: "Pedagogia da Desobediência: Travestilizando a Educação" (Pedagogy of Disobedience: Transvestilizing Education) by Tiffany Odara.

"The book Pedagogy of Disobedience: Travestilizing Education by researcher, pedagogue and Iyálorixá Thiffany Odara tells about the production of transvestite knowledge in the city of Salvador. Weaving together the histories of the trans movement with the theoretical dialogues of black feminism, Thiffany proposes to travestylize education as a way of building spaces of knowledge that are for all people. A transgressive pedagogy that speaks of claims and access, especially of trans people, to the condition of humanity. A publication that opens the way for other pedagogies and incites the disobedience of the CIStema. Thais Faria Castro (Editor)"

A deep water dive! This is one of the innumerable possible definitions of the sensations experienced by the readers of Pedagogy of Disobedience: Transvestiting Education. As an invitation to re-update our conceptions of black feminisms and transfeminist productions, Thiffany Odara presents us with the impact of the intellectual production of a black, Bahian, trans Candomblé woman in the field of education.

In addition to a magnificent historical rescue of the struggle of transvestites in the city of Salvador, the text leads us to understand the pedagogical character of this movement, and how it was and is fundamental for the survival of these activists; as well as the teachings and legacies left for future generations. By rescuing the classic thought of black feminisms and transfeminisms, the provocation about the urgent need for articulation between these theories and practices is also evident in order to better understand the path that is proposed to us. The reflections become even more powerful when the author intersects her training as a pedagogue to move these discussions to the field of education; thinking about it beyond the school space.

Thiffany transforms the pain and violence suffered in her educational trajectory into an imperative command: It is necessary to disobey and travestylize! The notes for the construction of a transgressive education are present throughout the construction of the author's thought, which undoubtedly points out to us the possible ways to think about concepts and formulations that are new in different fields of knowledge. Without a doubt one of the most relevant works on the subject today, dive in! Dayane Nayara C.
