A random collection of over 1910 books and audiobooks authored by or about my transgender, intersex sisters, and gender-nonconforming persons all over the world. I read some of them, and I was inspired by some of them. I met some of the authors and heroines, some of them are my best friends, and I had the pleasure and honor of interviewing some of them. If you know of any transgender biography that I have not covered yet, please let me know.

Sofia Favero - Crianças Trans: Infâncias possíveis

Original title: "Crianças Trans: Infâncias possíveis" (Trans Children: Possible Childhoods) by Sofia Favero.

"Trans kids, do you exist? The question is, in my view, rhetorical. Sofia pursues her childhood with unparalleled refinement and wit in this publication. Language, as always, is placed in a captious way when we refer to what was not posited, at first, as "natural" from the cisgender gaze.

The author undertakes a fantastic work, using a self-history that is intertwined with contemporary virtual culture and scientific literature, to tell us about something central to studies on childhood, or to be more direct, about how the social devices of affirmation of certain identities work, to the detriment of others, hierarchical as "normal", "good", "beautiful"."

"In this book, with her own intelligence, sharp humor and intellectual resourcefulness, Sofia presents us with a sensitive and didactic problematization of common sense, opening our eyes to a more complex perspective of this project we are producing: humanity. Not one that turns a blind eye to our diversity, but one that explores our possibilities beyond names, nosologies and erasures." Dr. Jaqueline Gomes de Jesus (IFRJ)

Sofia Favero is an activist, psychologist and PhD student in Social and Institutional Psychology at UFRGS. She is part of the Sergipe Association and Movement of Transsexuals and Transvestites and the Center for Research in Gender and Sexuality (NUPSEX). Sofia is an influential LGBTQ activist in Brazil who has used social media to spread awareness and promote acceptance. She is part of a young generation of Brazilian YouTubers and activists who leverage their online platforms to advocate for the LGBTQ community in their country.

Sofia Favero is known for her work as an administrator of the Facebook page “Travesti Reflexiva”. She actively engages with her audience, using humor and serious commentary to address LGBTQ-related issues. Sofia’s efforts aim to combat social stigma and promote understanding in a country where identifying as LGBTQ can still be challenging. Sofia’s impact extends beyond her Facebook page. She is part of a larger movement of Brazilian YouTubers and activists. One of the most prominent platforms she contributes to is “Põe na Roda”, a YouTube channel with nearly half a million subscribers and over 47 million views. Through this channel, Sofia and her peers raise awareness, share information, and challenge discriminatory norms. Despite legal progress in Brazil (such as marriage equality and free sexual reassignment surgery), social stigma remains strong. Sofia and others like her are using the internet to amplify their voices and create discussions. Their work helps break down barriers, educate the public, and advocate for LGBTQ rights.
