A random collection of over 1910 books and audiobooks authored by or about my transgender, intersex sisters, and gender-nonconforming persons all over the world. I read some of them, and I was inspired by some of them. I met some of the authors and heroines, some of them are my best friends, and I had the pleasure and honor of interviewing some of them. If you know of any transgender biography that I have not covered yet, please let me know.

Carlota Juncosa - Carmen de Mairena: Una biografía

Original title: "Carmen de Mairena. Una biografía" (Carmen de Mairena: Biography)

Carmen de Mairena is much more than what we know about her. She is a woman who fought to be a woman. Woman of neighborhood and street, a television star, a friend of friends who cheat on her, an emblem of the other Barcelona, a person of flesh and blood who laughs (less and less) and suffers (more and more).

The young artist Carlota Juncosa shared almost a year with Carmen de Mairena. From that strange friendship emerged an illustrated biography, as contradictory and unique as its protagonist.

When Carlota Juncosa tells her that she is going to write a book about her, Carmen de Mairena responds with courtly indifference. She doesn't care about books, she cares. Nor does she know too well what sense, what function a book plays. Not a wonderful book like Carlota Juncosa's.

Manuela Trasobares - Voluntad de poder

Original title: "Voluntad de poder " (Will of Power)

The book consists of two distinct parts, one historical and the other autobiographical, which narrates the intimacy of Manuela's childhood, in an attempt to settle the current controversy over whether children should have the right to decide their gender.

With lucid and early memories, she affirms that in childhood one can have a very clear identity, although some adults insist on imposing their prejudices.

Manuela Trasobares was born in Figueres in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. She is an opera singer, painter, sculptor, and philosopher who was soaked with artistic influences from her childhood, such as the moments with Salvador Dalí in Cadaqués, who gave her first lessons in drawing, optics, theater, and quantum physics. Dalí infused her with the surrealist perspective to analyze life, society, and art.
