"I am often asked: When did you realize that you were different? It's hard to say. Actually, I've always known. Even though I might not have been aware of it at first.
Jolina Mennen was born Julian in Bremen in 1992. But instead of conforming to stereotypes, she prefers to play princess and finds boys much more exciting than girls. What is completely unproblematic in her childhood becomes more and more difficult in her youth. Jolina struggles with prejudice and exclusion. She spends most of her life as a gay man until 2016 when she finally publicly admits what she has always known: she is a woman. In her autobiography, Jolina Mennen talks about the hurdles and difficulties, but also successes on her long way to herself - to encourage others and dissolve the stigma that is still associated with the topic of transgender. In 2019, she underwent the final gender reassignment surgery to complete her transition and now lives in public as a woman."
