A random collection of over 1994 books and audiobooks authored by or about my transgender, intersex sisters, and gender-nonconforming persons all over the world. I read some of them, and I was inspired by some of them. I met some of the authors and heroines, some of them are my best friends, and I had the pleasure and honor of interviewing some of them. If you know of any transgender biography that I have not covered yet, please let me know.

Original title: "Mein Leben als Transfrau: Eine Autobiografie" (My Life as a Trans Woman: An Autobiography) by Sasha Trifunovic and Anja Thyssen.
The autobiography Mein Leben als Transfrau: Eine Autobiografie by Sasha Trifunovic and Anja Thyssen is not just a life story but a deeply human exploration of what it means to search for authenticity in a world that often misunderstands difference. It is a story of courage, exile, and self-discovery told through the voice of a woman who has had to navigate multiple worlds, each with its own kind of judgment. Sasha’s journey begins in the home of Serbian immigrants who came to Germany searching for a better life. As a child, she already sensed she was different from the other boys around her, though she could not yet name what that difference was. Dressing up as a woman felt natural to her, even joyful, but to those around her it was dismissed as a quirk, an amusing habit that she would eventually outgrow. For a while, childhood was a safe place where curiosity could exist freely. But adolescence arrived like a storm, and with it came the cruelty of peers, the watchfulness of adults, and the first taste of rejection.

Original title: "Das Tagebuch der Johanna E.: trans. schamlos. direkt" (The Diary of Johanna E.: trans. shameless. direct) by Johanna E.
There are books that whisper, books that shout, and then there are books like Das Tagebuch der Johanna E.: trans. schamlos. direkt, books that simply bare it all, unfiltered and unapologetically alive.
Johanna E., Austrian stewardess, yoga teacher, and former star of the German reality show Transgender – Mein Weg in den richtigen Körper, is no stranger to bold decisions.
In my earlier interview with her on The Heroines of My Life, I was struck by her fierce honesty, her radiant resilience, and her refusal to be anyone other than herself. Now, Johanna takes her truth-telling to the next level in her intimate, chaotic, and deeply human book, Das Tagebuch der Johanna E.: trans. schamlos. direkt. Published as a beautiful, large-format edition, the diary reads like a series of emotional explosions, pages soaked in vulnerability, contradictions, and courage. The premise is as provocative as the title. After a client gives her a blank diary, Johanna begins pouring her heart and raw experiences onto the page. She writes of love and lust, shame and yearning, spiritual quests and sexual confessions. She is “mutig,” “naiv,” and “zerrissen,” brave, naive, and torn. She doesn’t shy away from contradictions; she lives in them.
