Full title: "18 Months: A Memoir of a Marriage Lost to Gender Identity" by Shannon Thrace.

"Shannon is no stranger to alternative lifestyles. Raised by Christian parents in Bluegrass country, she fled to the city, scraped together an education, worked for drag shows and befriended poets and anarchists at clothing-optional parties. By the time she settled into her 14-year relationship with Jamie, she had dated women and experimented with polyamory."

"So when her husband begins crossdressing, she sees no problem--she enjoys flouting the straight world's pointless rules. Trouble is brewing, though. Jamie's dive into the world of identity leads to shifting values, sexual dysfunction and a crippling depression. Still deeply in love with the kind, outdoorsy folksinger she once knew, Shannon is committed to working through these challenges. But she is blindsided by the unusual demands of gender dysphoria and learns the hard way that compassion, communication, and even love sometimes just aren't enough."

Jessica L Rose - The Butterfly Inside

Full title: "The Butterfly Inside" by Jessica L Rose.

"Life is never black and white, although many people believe it should be. Can you imagine that a person might wake up each morning not feeling happy with themselves? Of feeling unhappy with themselves to the point of hating the person looking back at them? Most people will never have to think about this and most people don’t understand it.

Jessica L Rose learnt the hard way that transgender is like an onion, you have to slowly peel back the different layers to be able to understand it all. But once you do, then how do you deal with it and with those around you? On the day she was born, Jessica’s mother brought her home to meet a sister who had not been prepared in any way to have her central place in the family usurped and she would spend the next forty years making Jessica’s life a complete misery and turning her family against her. It wasn’t until early adulthood that Jessica’s sister discovered the root of her own unhappiness – she had been born the wrong gender. Jessica was pleased that her now brother had come to this realisation but she was unable to forgive his vile treatment of her.

Adrian Barnes - My Knight's Quest

Full title: "My Knight's Quest: The story of a transwoman’s search to find a space for herself and a place where she could exist" by Adrian Barnes.

"Few of us consider that our life is particularly interesting or unusual. We can recall some brief highlights over the years with a smile, but often our lives are cluttered with moments we would rather not remember. I was no different in this respect, though perhaps I had more clutter than many. The events that could make up my life story, such as my career and family life, were clearly of little interest to anyone.

My past was captured in photograph albums and travel diaries, all hidden away in cupboards. There was one aspect of my life that I would have preferred to remain buried, and that was my long quest to create a space for myself as a woman. Those memories might have remained comfortably hidden had it not been for one man who was determined to dig them up. This autobiography tells the story of an Australian transwoman’s search to find a space for herself in the world; a place where she could truly exist. It is a story of how her life went from being secretive and unknown to being accepted and understood."

Erika Shepard - Abomination Child

Full title: "Abomination Child" by Erika Shepard.

"Meet the Fosters. Parents from disparate backgrounds, an eight-year-old boy and his thirteen-year-old sister, all living a suffocating version of the American dream in 1958 Missouri. An innocent grade school Halloween party - and one small betrayal - lead to an act of sudden violence that stuns them all, and in an instant their facade of normalcy cracks, sending each of them down a separate, winding path to self-discovery.

Abomination Child follows the story of that family through the fog of anger, lost innocence, and disillusionment. It is the story of Brian, an effeminate boy who believes with all his heart he is a girl; his rebellious tomboy sister Liz who yearns only to escape; their diligent, studious mother Barbara who longs for the peace and tranquility of a normal family life, and their father John, angry and wounded by war, now mired in new-found religious zeal. Each must find their own truth in the shifting world of the Sixties and Seventies - if they can."

Wiebke ter Lichten - Wiebke werden VI

"This is the sixth part of my ever-growing diary and I highly recommend reading the earlier parts first. I had finished my third book by stating that I would not publish any more parts unless there was more progress to report. I didn't expect it at the time, but it happened! That's why in the fall of 2022 I published three new episodes of my diary in a short time and this is the later German translation. I have the diagnosis, have been in transition for a year and of course I have continued to write my diary and reached a point where publishing makes sense again. The speed of my progress has increased and my social transition is more than halfway. This part covers the period between May and July 2022."

Cami Richardson - Foggy Googles

Full title: "Foggy Googles: A sequel memoir to 'Do you know who I once was'" by Cami Richardson.

"Foggy Googles is a sequel memoir to my first book called 'Do you know who I once was.' In my discussions with my editor on the first book, she suggested I leave out many of my stories and memories about my firehouse years, my amazing wife Teri, my ski career and entrepreneurial years and try to focus the book on my transition to that of being a transgender woman. I agreed and I believe that first book helped me move forward in reaching my personal mission goal of educating and enlightening others about the transgender community. After publishing it and in allowing some friends and family to read some chapters that were left out, the common response I received was that I should publish them and include them in a sequel, so “Foggy Googles” became a reality."

In my case, a ballet between the young boy who tried to be a man, and a young girl, trying to be a woman. A duet between my past self as David and my present self as Rachel. This is a self-reflection on the journey I have made from self-discovery and self-realization to transition and beyond. This is a story of my struggles to be genuine and authentic. It is a reflection on my search for truth in myself."

The story of these "Memories" began in 2017 when I discovered my trans identity. Since then, my situation has evolved towards a different affirmation of this gender identity.

This poetic collection brings together a number of texts and formats (short stories, poems in verse and prose, speeches) which, in addition to showing the diversity of forms, explore the depths of a spirit sometimes wounded, sometimes amazed. The journey of both sorrows and blessings is transcended by the power of words. It is the brilliance of a Woman in the making, the isotopy of Being."

I started dressing up at the age of 14. I’ve been a cross-dresser for 21 years now and I am happy with who I am but every day I think about my family. My family wants no part of me and that kind of makes me upset. They don’t have anything to do with me. I am out here on my own. I’ve been on my own since the age of 13. Transformations is more than a memoir of transgenderism. It reflects important crossroads we all encounter in our lives - times of self-doubt and failure, other moments of great success and joy. It is a journey all of us share, one leading to that profound question we, at some point in our lives, must ask ourselves: Who am I?"

Hida Viloria - Born Both: An Intersex Life

Full title: "Born Both: An Intersex Life" by Hida Viloria.

"My name is Hida Viloria. I was raised as a girl but discovered at a young age that my body looked different. Having endured an often turbulent home life as a kid, there were many times when I felt scared and alone, especially given my attraction to girls. But unlike most people in the first world who are born intersex - meaning they have genitals, reproductive organs, hormones, and/or chromosomal patterns that do not fit standard definitions of male or female - I grew up in the body I was born with because my parents did not have my sex characteristics surgically altered at birth.

It wasn't until I was twenty-six and encountered the term intersex in a San Francisco newspaper that I finally had a name for my difference. That's when I began to explore what it means to live in the space between genders - to be both and neither. I tried living as a feminine woman, an androgynous person, and even for a brief period of time as a man. Good friends would not recognize me, and gay men would hit on me. My gender fluidity was exciting, and in many ways freeing - but it could also be isolating."

"I'm the one who decides "gender". A medical frontline report for all those who stand at the crossroads between men and women. A book of hope where the dream of sex change becomes a reality! A woman's body but a man's mind, or vice versa. "Gender identity disorder" caused by the malfunction of the fetal sex determination mechanism has given "him" and "she" unseen emotional scars.

A special team at the Saitama Medical University General Medical Center was set up to solve the problem. While following the operations of a team of doctors led by Professor Takao Harashina, we have also examined many real cases of troubles, and now we have compiled a document of the origin of "man" and "woman". This is a hopeful and realistic report from the forefront of gender reassignment medicine for all those who stand at the crossroads of gender."
